In case you are thinking of entering a Raft in our 2024 event (Sat 15th June 2024), please see the normal arrangements and rules below!
All rafts must be at the designated Raft Area next to the Leamington Liftbridge by 2.45pm on the day of the event. Registration Forms must be completed prior to the event, and all participant information given, for safety reasons. The boats will race in heats, which will be drawn by lots. The winner of each heat will progress through to the final.
Buoyancy aids and helmets must be worn, and will be provided if needed.
All rafts must be deemed canal-worthy by the assessment of Raft Race Instructors prior to launch.
Raft materials must not contaminate the canal in any way.
Rafts must not be more than 6 feet or 1.8m wide.
Rafts must be powered by human power only.
No marine parts may be included – canoes, paddles etc.
All participants are responsible for the removal and disposal of their raft following the event (this includes all bits from land or water!!!)
Any number of people can be on each raft but all must pass the finish line.
All teams must be able to carry their rafts overland from finish to start line, if they are fortunate enough to win their heat.
The judges’ word is final!
