Music and Performances


Edinburgh Canal Festival is delighted to be showcasing a variety of community bands, local musicians and performers. We have 4 performance areas, so make sure you check them all out!

12pm – Castle Chorus – Edinburgh’s folk and roots community choir. Open to all, we sing a wide range of music from around the world and songs we create ourselves.
1pm – Aye Notes – Stan Reeves and friends playing traditional Scottish music
2pm – Beth Miller – Edinburgh based singer-songwriter, whose music combines her love of both jazz and folk music.
3pm – Minnow Ceilidh Band – come dance with us!
4pm – The Ukehoot A community band of eclectic souls, united in their love of the ukelele, singing and having a great time!

12-2pm – Buskin’ Sharks Big Band playing jazz standards, funk and pop.
2.30-4.30pm – Andy Chung will entertain us with a mixture of his warm and passionate performance of songs, original and traditional, and Raft Race banter.

12pm – Journey through Brazilian Dances – Come and venture into a journey through Brazilian dances with Andrea Shorthouse & Axé Boom Boom – don’t miss this party!
1pm – Busking Buccaneers – A few of the many students of Scots Music Group which provides classes in traditional music and song in Edinburgh. Good tunes for you, including some with a nautical flavour!
2pm – Ross King – A unique mix of folk, funk, soul and singer-songwriter, Ross has featured multiple times on BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Scotland, and will be releasing his first studio album this year, in 2024.
3pm – Eden Rocks – A Four Piece Band playing Classic Music from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s
4pm – Why Icarus – Edinburgh based five-piece band who play instrumental guitar music that spans blues, rock, jazz and prog. 

12pm – Jawbone Walk – Traditional acoustic Scottish and Irish tunes with fiddles, accordions, mouth organs and guitar
1pm – Trippytakka Edinburgh 4 piece band playing bouncy rock and some bluesy numbers
2pm – Bellydancers
3pm – Join Axé Boom Boom & Capoeira Edinburgh for a demonstration of this fascinating Brazilian martial art disguised as a dance, followed by a treasure hunt Capoeira game!

Look out for performers from the brilliant Rowanbank  … they might be on stilts, in boats or on paddleboards …
